Fire Station

We had been talking to the boys about fire safety. What to do when the house is on fire, their clothes are on a fire, etc. We also talked about where we should meet when we get out of the house. I was really glad when I heard our wards playgroup was scheduled to go take a tour of the fire station up the street from us.

Our ward has a really good play group. They always have something different and exciting for the kids to do. One Saturday in July they scheduled a tour of the fire station. Of course the boys were super excited to go. When we woke up in the morning we went and helped clean the church. They were in charge of cleaning up all the trash on the outside of the building. They did a fabulous job :) Afterwards we went home and had lunch. Soon after it was time to go to the fire station.

Here they are at the start of the tour.
Kade looks very handsome!

This is a funny picture! Kade looks really tired. Kyle is looking at something and Connor is trying to get something out of his nose.

They took us by all the rooms in the fire station which is a lot. They have rooms with beds where the firemen can sleep in, a workout room, and entertainment room with recliners and an enormous flat screen T.V., a kitchen, a washroom and a few others. I am sure they never get bored :)

It has all of his gear in it.

It was literally impossible to get a picture with all three boys looking at the camera. There was so many distratcions :)

One of the firemen explaining everything about the fire truck.

The boys are listening intently to the fire men.

Inside one of the compartments on the truck.

They let all the kids walk from one side of the fire truck to the other. Kyle absolutely did not want to see the inside so Kade and Connor walked through.

All three sitting on the fire truck. They thought that was pretty cool.

Up against one of the walls in the garage was a seat. It looked like it was taken out of one of the trucks. The kids loved sitting on it and putting the seat belts on. Here is Kade, Kyle and Connor taking their turn.

After they were all down showing the fire engine to the kids they opened the gargage door and unrolled the water hose.

They let all the kids take turns turning on the water. Kade was the only one that wanted to try. Here is the fire chief talking to him before it was his turn. Connor just watched everyone.

Kade got the water pretty high. The fireman, in full gear, helped the kids. The hose looked pretty powerful when the water was coming out.

Here is what the boys were doing while waiting for everyone to have a turn.

At the end of the tour they gave all the kids a black firemans hat, a sticker and a coloring book.

Here is Connor taking his sweet time walking to the car to go home.

I am grateful the boys had an opportunity to go see the fire station. I know Kade will have to do this again in a couple of years when he is boy scouts. I believe it is one of the requirements or things they can do. When we got back home we had a snack, again and relaxed the rest of the day with Daddy and Cam.
