Cam is finally here!!!

On May 21, 2012 our fourth little monkey came into the world! We are so excited the waiting is over and he is here! Eric and I left for the hospital at 5 a.m. so we could be there at 5:30. The c-section was scheduled for 7:30, but we had to be there early to get the IV in, paper work filled out and questions answered. The nurse was good this time. She didn't poke me a million times like a previous nurse did. At least we could get a little rest in because I was so tired. I was unable to sleep because of the excitement. Here I am very tired but ready to go.

At 7:30 we were still sitting and waiting. We had not seen our nurse for a little bit so we were wondering what was going on. Finally a different nurse, the OR nurse came in to get us. Here are the doors to the OR.

At first Eric has to sit outside and wait while I go in to get the needle in my back. It is always FREEZING in this room, but luckily this time the nurse brought a heated blanket so I wouldn't shake like crazy. The OR nurse was incredible. this time Dr. Groom pokes his head and asks me if I am sure I want a tubal ligation (more to come on this). I said "definitely". Finally I am all numb from my waist down. Dr Groom comes in and they let Eric in. As the medicine is setting in I feel like I am going to gag. The anesthesiologist gives Eric a little bowl. I keep gagging with nothing coming. Eric takes the bowl away and I think I am done. Not! I throw up some. Some lands in the bowl and some lands on Eric. Thank goodness he loves me!! Eric sits right next to me while they start. He stands up and tells me what is going on. I keep asking him if he can see the baby. A few minutes later he lets me know he can see Cam's head. I can hear him crying. This was the first time I heard one of the boys cry before they were completely out. Cam did not like being taken out of his home for the past 9 months. Right before this the anesthesiologist asked Eric if he wanted to take pictures. I was so glad because I always wondered what Eric got to see that I didn't. I am grateful for a husband that can stomach all of this. BEWARE these are graphic pictures with blood.

Here is Cam's little head poking out.

Here he is all the way out.

The umbilical chord is finally cut. As you can tell he is not a happy camper.

Here is what happens after he comes out. The nurses take him, clean him up, take his measurements and make sure he is healthy. He ended up weighing 6 lbs. 5 oz. and measured 20 3/4 inches.

Here is probably thinking "finally they are all done and I am not freezing anymore." Now he is jsut waiting for the doctor to get done with me. Eric is always the first one to hold them. He brings them over to me so I can see them.

A little about this picture....
When Eric and I first got, and even before, we decided that we would have four kids. I thought that was a perfect, even amount. I figured I would be done by the time I was 33. I always wanted to be a young mom, but life didn't happen that way. When Dr. Groom asked me if I wanted my tubes tied with Connor I knew the answer was no. I just felt like someone was missing. After months of talking to Eric and much thought we decided that Cam would be our last one. So....this time when Dr. Groom asked me if I wanted my tubes tied the answer was a definite yes. As I was sitting in the OR waiting I started to have a little bit of second thoughts. However, I peaceful feeling came to me and I knew I was ok doing what Eric and I decided.

Here is a picture of my tubal ligation. It amazes me that this is what my little sister, Becky, is use to seeing practically every day.

After they are done they sew me up and I am good to go. Right before they take me out they give Cam to me. This is the first time I get to hold him.

After we get back to the room the "baby's nurse" come to give hime a bath and clean him off some. Of course Cam does not like this. He really does not like being cold. Once she is done she puts him under a lamp that makes him all warm. He is happy then.

Here is "sun bathing".

Once they are done I get to hold him again and feed him for the first time. He immediately takes to feeding. While in the hospital he is an awesome eater and pooper. I am grateful for the time I get to spend with just him in the hospital. Although it was really nice to not have to listen to fighting and not listening, I am ready to go home by the third day.

Kade's first time holding Cam.

He is so long!

We are so lucky Cam came to our family!! We all love him to pieces!!
