Cam is already 1. I am sad to see him get big because he has been such an amazing little baby. He had a terrific birthday. We decided his birthday them would be monkeys and jungle. Here are the decorations for his birthday. I fogot to get a picture of his amazing stash of presents, but I have a ton of him opening them :) All of his facial expressions I love, so I couldn't pick just one picture. **Beware....picture overload.

Cam's birthday was low key meaning only family came. I think he knew it was his birthday, his special day. He was getting a lot of attention from everyone. I love his little shirt we bought him too. He looks absolutely adorable in it :) Here is is getting ready to open presents, with his brothers' help of course.

His favorite part of the night was probably eating his cake. I bought two bundlet cakes for him to have. He LOVED it! When Eric was showing Cam his cake, he almost jumped out of Eric's arms. He wanted it!

Now he is happy again. He got some cake back. We were all interested to see what he would do. Either Kyle or Connor ate their cake very properly. Not Cam! He put his hands in the cake and tore it to pieces.

We figured he was done eating it when he started to wave his hands through the cake. It started going everywhere.

A little about Cam....
The past six months has been kind of hard with Cam. The peditrician thought something was wrong with him. He told us we needed to take him to a pediatric opthamologist, a neurologist and a geneticist. He also wanted him to get an MRI done. The silly pediatric opthamologist concluded he has albinism. Eric really thought this was silly because he looks exactly like the other boys did. Eric and I were even really light skinned and really blonde hair when we were really little. With that we went and got an MRI done. The results came back a couple days later and nothing showed up.
Cam was so, so good during his time at the hospital to get the MRI done. The only time he cried was when the nurse couldn't find his vein to put the IV in. Other than that he was happy. He loved looking at his book that plays songs. I will post pictures as soon as I get them from my moms phone. Seeing little Cam the way he was made me really sad. It was not fun seeing him hooked up to monitors. We went into the room where the MRI is done. I had to hold him for them to give him the shot that would pur him under. As soon as they gave it to him he immediately went limb and fell asleep. I was not able to stay in the room, so my mom and I sat outside and waited. After about 20-30 minutes the nurse came to get us. We went into the room where Cam was still sleeping and still hooked up to the monitors. We waited another 20-30 minutes for him to wake. Soon after we were able to go home. After we arrived home he seemed really tired so I put him in his bed. He slept for a long time, especially since his day was so exhausting. Thankfully, according to the radiologist, nothing is wrong. Next we had appointments with the neurologist and geneticist.
At the time of the neurologist appointment Cam just barely started sitting up. When I told the doctor that he told me I needed to get him into Early Childhood Intervention. I had an appointment with them right after I left. He also wanted Cam to have a blood test done that is a chromosome analysis. A few days later I learned we wouldn't be able to get the results of this test for 6-8 weeks (the end of June). A week or two after this he had an appointment with the geneticist.
The geneticist concluded that he does not have albinism, but orderd a long chain fatty acid blood test. It would take two weeks to find the results of this test. At this time, because of what the geneticist told us, we thought Cam might have this really rare disease that wouldn't give him very many years to live. We were really bummed and could not do hardly anything the next few days. We decided that we would not dwell on it until we knew for sure.
Here is Cam during the geneticist appointment. He is such a happy little guy.
Cam LOVES his daddy. He is always super excited when Eric comes home. If Eric does not at least acknowledge him he starts screaming and crying. As soon as Eric picks him up he is completely fine. He loves to look at books, especially his books that make noises or plays music. He is still not crawling, however, he is sitting up really good. He is trying to get into crawling postion. He rolls all over the place and, just reently, started to scoot. He is also trying to pull higood mself up me. When one of the boys takes something away from him he lets everyone know. He has a very loud screaming voice. He eats really well, sometimes more than the boys. He still sleeps incredibly well. He always sleeps longer than all the boys. He is taking only one nap a day now. It is usually for about 2-3 hours. He fits really well in 12 month clothes still. He has four teeth, almost six. He enjoys being in his stroller and the wagon. He likes when his brothers play with him nicely. He likes to say "ta da ta da". He is at that age when it is hard to keep him quiet at church. He is not bad, just likes to talk kind of loud. He will not sleep in his car seat, unless he is really tired. He loves to snuggle, especially before bedtime. Right now he is in the 67% for height and he finally on the weight chart in the whopping 2%. I know it is not because he does not eat because he does.
All of the test results came back normal. I am anxious to see what the peditrician says when we see him in a couple of weeks. He also has a follow up appointment with the peditric opthamologist. It will be interesting to see what he says too. This experience has made me grateful for many things. The first is really good insurance that has basically covered everything. We are grateful Eric has such a good job with an incredible insurance package. I am also grateful for healthy kids. When I hear them screaming, fighting, being kind, etc I am grateful for the noise because it means they are healthy and doing well.
