I read on Facebook about people sending cruel letters to President Packer for the talk he gave during conference. Here is a link to his talk: Click here. After I read it I thought "how can people take this out of context? He did not say anything rude or condemning to a certain community. He was just saying what Heavenly Father is having him say." As I read more about the second coming I am learning that you are either against God and Jesus or you are with them. It is that black and white. I choose to be with them. A friend posted this article on Facebook too. Click here. The spokesman Michael Otterson said everything perfectly. Everything a true follower of Christ and LDS person believes in. My favorite part is, "As a church, our doctrinal position is clear: any sexual activity outside of marriage is wrong, and we define marriage as between a man and a woman. However, that should never, ever be used as justification for unkindness. Jesus Christ, whom we follow, was clear in His condemnation of sexual immorality, but never cruel. His interest was always to lift the individual, never to tear down."
I know I have had my share of temptations, so I know I am far from perfect. However, it is amazing how much hate there is in the world. I worry about how the boys are going to combat everything when they are older. I do know that as long as they hold to the teachings of Christ and everything that is true they will be better able to deal with all the troubles and temptations of the world. Anyways, just wanted to share my thoughts. I apologize if I offended anyone. I definitely did not mean too.
Go Connie! I've been following this controversy too and actually just barely finished reading President Packer's talk online. I agree - So sad that a talk as straightforward as this one can be so misconstrued.
